Paint-an-Elf contest winners ---and announcing next month's competition

Congratulations to R.J. for being this month's contest winner!

Here he is with his chosen prize, a section of HirstArts water cavern dungeon.

Below is his winning entry (on the left) along with another of his painted minis getting ready to rid the dungeon of ubiquitous orcs.

WHICH brings me to the topic of our next competition.

Announcing the PAINT-A-ORC contest.

Y'all saw this one comin', didn't ya! I mean, you can't have a proper dungeon-crawling adventure without the orcs and goblins, right? I'm really excited about this contest and seeing how everybody paints their entries. I hope to see lots of entries this time. After all, orcs always come in hordes.

The rules are as follows.
  1. Contest entry must be a model representing an orc OR half-orc OR goblin.
  2. The model must be by Reaper Miniatures, and can be from any of their product lines except of course their Legendary Encounters pre-painted plastic line.
  3. Entry must be painted entirely by the person entering it.
  4. Participants must be present at the time of judging to win.
  5. Participants compete in either the 12-and-under or 13-and-up category.
  6. 1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded in each of the two categories.
  7. This contest is free and opened to anybody, not just P&P club regulars.
Although you are encouraged to buy your own model, and hopefully have begun your own collection of model paints, you are always welcomed to join us at any P&P Sunday events between now and judging to work on your model and share in the group's collective enthusiasm for improving individual painting skills.

Deadline and judging will be on Sunday, May 31st at 4pm at Hobbytown USA in Kennesaw GA.

So, good luck..and may the best greenskin win!

April 19th P&P Highlights

After a few weeks of hit-and-miss, we finally got together again and had a quick but fun session of painting. This week, some of our usual P&Pers brought along a new friend. Here's some highlight pics.
Below is our new painter's experiment with Reaper ProPaint metallics. Hopefully I will have more metallics available next week.

And here's a kobold..a darn good kobold too.

The young fellow in the green shirt painted these amazing eyes...without any fancy triple-zero brushes..and while standing up!

Remember, next week is the deadline for the Paint-An-Elf contest.

Also, I hope to resume our regular dungeon-crawling game next week provided a table is available.

Another cancellation

At this point it looks like we won't be there tomorrow for Paint & Play at Hobbytown. Our car is in need of a short visit to the dealer mechanics.

The good news is that the week after Easter is now a P&P Sunday. It turns out the modellers' event is only on Saturday.

As for the Kobold contest, we never had a single entry, so the prizes will be re-used for our Elf competition which ends at the end of this month.
